I know most of you have been celebrating Fall since the first day of September but I’m just now feeling Fall this year. And when I’m feeling Fall I start baking, specifically, I start baking apple dessert recipes.
Last Fall I was in the first half of my pregnancy with J and had that awesome all day, everyday morning sickness for 10 weeks. For some reason, when I feel like that all I can stomach is carbs and dessert, much to the dismay of my doctor.
When I was feeling better we went apple picking as a family of three in the North Georgia Mountains. Which is absolutely beautiful during this time of the year. The weather is cool but not cold and the leaves turn colors a little slower due to the milder weather than other climates. (As a native New Yorker I appreciate this gradual change!)
Like most people that go apple picking, we got caught up in the moment and purchased way more apples than we could actually eat or truthfully want to eat. As I hate wasting food, I decided to start baking with the apples we had picked. To try a variety of recipes I headed over to trusty ole’ Pinterest to search and found these mouth-watering apple dessert recipes.
For the next 3 weeks, I had one of each of these apple dessert recipes in the house at all times.
Coincidentally, this was also about the time my doctor informed me I should probably slow down my weight gain. I’m not a doctor so I’m not sure what the correlation between these desserts and my weight gain was but I took a break with baking. (Until Christmas of course! But that’s a Friday Faves for another day!)
This year I have slowed down my apple dessert recipe consumption but that doesn’t mean I can’t indulge in at least one of these!
Without further adieu, you have my 4 Favorite Apple Dessert Recipes from Pinterest!
Country Apple Fritter Bread
This was the winner in our house! I found this on The Baking Chocolatess and even my nonsweet tooth husband was a fan of this since he secretly loves apple fritters. Which is why I made 3 loaves in a couple of weeks. It was easy to make and that much easier to eat finish off within a day of making it.
German Apple Cake
If you are looking for a more indulgent apple recipe that is still relatively simple to make this is the one from Cocinando Con Alena! The cream cheese icing is the cherry on top. Seriously. It is a good cake without the icing but for some reason, you add that icing and it takes it to a whole new delicious level!
Caramel Apple Bars
To be honest I didn’t actually make this recipe but my mom has made them for me a few times. I love the topping on these bars because everything’s better with glaze in my opinion! This is another easy recipe that is probably recommended to share with others. If that’s your thing. I don’t share dessert well. Check out Inside Bru Crew Life for other great recipes!
Mom’s Apple Crisp with Crunchy Oat Topping
Apple crisp was the first dessert I learned to bake. It brings back fond memories of Home Economics in 7th grade. Nothing like awkward pre-teens baking that make memories that last a lifetime. And *GASP* we even used knives in school to cut the apples! This would be unheard of today!
This recipe, from Scrumpdillyicious, changes the “original” slightly by adding an even better tasting crunchy oat topping. For some reason, I just like this one more than the traditional! I prefer the crunch to a more mushy apple crisp.
Now that you know I have a severe apple dessert recipe addiction in the Fall, I feel like we know each other a little closer now! And because we know each other now, you won’t judge the weight I put on during this time of the year from all the apple dessert recipes I bake. Which of course leads up to my Christmas cookie weight gain in December.
Either way, your friend, The Domestic Realist, will continue to taste test some delicious recipes for you! And save you the weight gain of trying them all yourself. But just like drinking, I hate to do it alone so try at least one with me too! PLEASE?
And if you would like to pin these I’ve added them to my Sweet Things board on Pinterest! And while you are there I’d love you to follow me so you won’t miss any new recipes I try!
