My motto will always be work smarter, not harder. Especially when entertaining!
Now that I am in the holiday spirit after posting my Tips for Hosting a Stress-Free Thanksgiving and creating planning printables to help you and I this year (which you can access from that post or by signing up for my mailing list over there =>). It got me thinking about the must have holiday entertaining essentials for hosting this holiday season (or really any event).
It’s not a long list of items, but over the years I have realized these entertaining essentials make hosting easier. Having friends and family over for any occasion is the best part of having a home! Even when we lived in a two bedroom townhouse we hosted as many events as we could! Hubby and I have hosted some really fun themed events too! They ranged from Tacky sweater to sell your gold to Cinco de Derby parties and everything in between.
The one thing they all have in common was no matter how simple we planned an event to be they required time, money, and energy. After all of the different holidays, parties, and special occasions I have hosted over the years, I have found some entertaining essentials that make it easier to host any event!
6 Must Have Holiday Entertaining Essentials
Ibotta Rebate App
This isn’t an “item” but it is crucial to saving money and not blowing your hosting budget. I use it regularly to save on my everyday purchases like groceries, baby items, and other purchases.
The biggest perk is that they have TONS of rebates on Alcohol! Alcohol is one of those items that doesn’t really go on sale, so earning a few dollars back on each bottle or 6 pack can save you some big $$$!
Saving money with Ibotta is as simple as checking the app before shopping to see what rebates are available on beer, wine, liquor, and other beverages. Buy those items and scan the barcode and receipt in the app when you get home. I’ve saved as much as $10 on a boxed wine. (And surprisingly it was delicious!)
Give Ibotta a try for yourself and get $10 in your account using this link or referral code bjwrpxm! It’s worth it! Just this year alone I have earned over $100 cash using this app.
OXO Ice bucket
I know you are thinking. What could be different about this ice bucket than others and honestly I would say the same thing. I just know that after having my mom’s old Tupperware ice bucket for years this one elevates the party to another level!
It has a beautiful stainless exterior and the tongs hook on the side so you don’t put them in with the ice (the germaphobe in me appreciates this). The tongs actually grip the ice, so less chasing ice around the bucket. What a concept, I know!
I don’t own this item (YET!) but it is definitely on my entertaining essentials wishlist. A friend brought this over during our last Super Bowl party. She was able to easily bake her dish at home, travel with it’s locking lid, then plug it in to keep it warm when she arrived.
I need this you guys! Maybe a thoughtful and loving family member will read this and put it under the Christmas tree for me! hint hint!
These were mentioned in Monday’s post, Stress-Free Thanksgiving tips, but they are worth noting again! They work on all glass cups and wash off with soap and water! Forget plastic solo cups or wine charms that are annoying when you wash the glasses. Offer these instead!
Disposable Foil Pans
Life is so much easier if you can make something and serve it in the same container. Life is EVEN easier if you can just throw that dish out when you are done. No soaking or scrubbing here!
Chafing Racks and Sternos
I got this smart idea from my mom of course! The hostess with the mostess!
Invest in chafing racks and they will last forever! No need to worry about whether your guests are eating cold food or if a recipe finished baking too early. Throw them in the chafing dish and light the sterno! Just make sure it is far from where children can reach it!
TIP: When buying disposable foil pans to make your recipes in I suggest buying the half size ones (listed above) that fit in the chafing rack. Go straight from the oven to rack with no scoping in between! Plus, your dishes stay in the same pretty shape you baked them in!
When I am hosting, my goal is to enjoy time my company.
Making the tasks before, during, and after as simple as possible is the best way to ensure you actually speak with your guests! And sometimes just having some simple entertaining essentials can make a world of difference!
What is an item you feel is essential when you host family and friends? I’d love to know so I can try it out!
